The World Trade Center Memorial Competition entry was the result of a partnership charette. The resulting design acknowledged the enormous role of the moving image in the September 11th experience. Fear, pain, and outrage intruded the safety of homes and gripped people through their television screens. The memorial design seeks to use the same medium of television and the moving image to heal the pain that it had once delivered. Changing images of heroism and visitors' shadows are projected onto the Liberty Wall as visitors enter the site. Screens run along the hill's edge displaying home video's of victim's lives. Images of tragedy are replaced by images of life and remembrance.
